
Why we built a towel rail that actually works fast
Most heaters are just slow. They spend way too much time trying to warm up the air in the room before they even get to your towel. It’s a waste of time. We decided to skip the air entirely. By using short-wave infrared, the heat jumps straight from the rail to the fabric—or your skin. If you’ve ever stepped into a freezing changing room, you know why this matters. You don’t want to wait ten minutes; you want to feel warmright now.
Getting the heat right
We wanted that “luxury hotel” feeling—that immediate hit of warmth the second you touch the towel. To do that, we focused on power density. Traditional water-filled rails are sluggish because you’re waiting for a bunch of metal and liquid to heat up. Our infrared elements don’t play that game. They turn electricity into radiant energy instantly. No waiting for pipes. Just heat.
The nuts and bolts
We use quartz glass to protect the filaments. Why? Because quartz can handle those wild temperature swings without cracking under pressure. We also spent a lot of time calibrating the wattage. It’s a delicate balance: you want the heat to soak deep into the towel, but you definitely don’t want to scorch the fabric. Plus, we used standard connectors. This is a huge win for the people installing them. If an element ever burns out, you can just swap it for a new one. You don’t have to rip open your walls or rewire the whole bathroom.
A few things to keep in mind
These are perfect for high-traffic spots where you can’t afford a “cold start.” But they do work differently than a standard radiator. Infrared is directional. It’s like a flashlight—if you’re standing too far away or something is blocking the light, you won’t feel it. You have to be smart about where you mount them based on the angle of the lamp. And because these things get seriously hot, we built in thermal cut-offs. That way, if someone presses a thick towel too tightly against the element for too long, the system shuts down before things get dangerous.
