
Making Bathroom Heaters That Won’t Blind You
When we design infrared bathroom lamps, we’re basically trying to solve one big problem: how do you get a room warm and cozy without blasting people—especially babies—with light that’s way too harsh for their eyes? Most standard short-wave lamps are like staring into a miniature sun. They’ve got this blinding glare and UV output that just isn’t great. So, we decided to change the way the light actually works. It’s all about the physics. We don’t use any magic tricks here. We just use special coatings on the quartz glass and filtered filaments to dial back the blue light and UV rays. By pushing the energy toward the long-wave infrared side of things, the lamp focuses on heating your skin rather than lighting up the room like a stadium. The result? You feel the warmth immediately, but the light stays soft and gentle on the eyes. No more retinal stress. The nuts and bolts These units run on your normal home voltage, but we crank up the wattage so you aren’t standing there shivering while you wait for it to warm up. To handle that sudden jump in heat, we use high-purity quartz. It keeps the glass from cracking under the pressure. We also tweaked the filament so the glow stays muted and calm. One thing to keep in mind: heat density is a real factor. Since these are high-wattage lamps in a small space, your housing needs to be able to take the heat. If your vents are clogged or poorly designed, that trapped heat can actually eat away at your wiring over time. Definitely something to watch out for. The trade-off Here’s the honest truth: filtered lamps aren’t as “bright” as those clear halogen tubes. You lose a bit of that intense, white light, but you gain a lot of safety. If you’re installing these, they’ll fit right into the same spots as standard heaters. Just don’t be surprised when the room doesn’t feel like a lightbox. To get the most out of them, make sure your reflectors are polished to a mirror finish. Since we aren’t relying on raw, blinding intensity, we need those reflectors to push every bit of heat exactly where it needs to go.
